Here's a review of one of our retail products, PQI flying drive.
"It's a USB Storage Device from PQI called the Flying Drive. It's shaped like a bug, you have to open up the wings to get to the USB connector. "
The unit is quite compact, unlike some of the other "portable" usb devices. The package also comes with a keyring hook, so you can hook the drive to your key-ring. It performs quite well under Windows XP and 2000. It's supposed to work without drivers under Windows ME,2000 and XP. To get the device to work in Windows 95 or 98, you'll need to install the drivers which comes with the package. If you have a motherboard which supports USB 2.0, this device flies ! It can transfer data at speeds up to 480Mbps on USB 2. Unfortunately I don't have USB 2.0, so I'm unable to test the manufacturer's claims.
Working with the Flying Drive is a charm, I just have to hook it up to the system. Within a few seconds, a new "Removable Drive" pops up in My Computer. I just copy all the files into the device and unplug it from the computer. It's as easy as that ! If you install the drivers for the device from the mini-CD which accompanies it, you have some extra options which you can enable on your drive. With this extra functionality, you can protect directories and files from deletion, enable password protection for file and directory access, which is important if you have sensitive data stolen or accidently deleted.
